Angel Connie

Today I was in Crowded Closet paying for my "special finds" and the lady at the check out was named Connie. She looked to be about my age. The man ahead of me in line had come back for something he forgot so then she and I were talking about becoming forgetful. She told me that she thinks God starts doing that to us in order to prepare us for heaven . . . . to make room for all the information and knowledge that we will be given. It was an epiphany!!! I have decided to claim it and throw out any flim flam ideas about menopause, hormones, etc. She made my day. She may have made my "rest of my days"!!!!

SHOES AND SOCKS

I love these shoes cause they are so easy to get on and off and they're comfy. They also go with many things. I was so pleased when I first got them, then it wasn't long after that, Jill shows up with the same shoes. Don't you just hate it when the young ones copy us older folks?!? We've been here longer, we deserve to be extra cool. Have they earned that level of coolness so soon? Anyhow, I think these striped socks look good with the shoes. I think maybe Jill has these socks also, but not sure if she has thought to put them together! I wore these to the chiropractor and when he was working on my legs, I thought I heard him mutter "funky old fart" under his breath.

More Snowville with Ice this time!

Look - - here is the mound of snow under my workroom window. If it snows much more, all there will be is a pair of wings sticking up out of the snow.
Here is the pile at the end of the driveway where we back into the street. You can see my heart and star barely sticking out. When they're gone, I'm packing up and leaving.
Here's a fun icicle - I love those guys, I don't know why. Back before popsicles, it's all we had. Not that flavorful really, but fun all the same.
It's not enough we got all this snow, we got ice, too! Our streets are so thick with ice - solid ice - it's kind of freaky. But as believers, we have that hope that God is still in control.

Sunday morning

The message I was trying to convey with this picture is the white winter tree and snowlady are still very much at home, while the tulips have opened (and are standing straight up, Laura!) with Jill's rock of "hope" beside it. What my camera could not pick up (mainly because I have yet to learn how to use it!) is the reason the window looks so white.........it's snowing like crazy again!!! We're talking blizzard conditions. At least Don and I were sitting here at this table eating a yummy warm breakfast - at noon - and keeping safe and sane. I think, anyway!

Woo-hoo!

I am the proud grandmother to this handsome and talented young man. His artwork was accepted to be displayed at Hancher Auditorium and there was a special reception and showing last Sunday in his honor. (Well, other kids, too, but. . . . ) anyway, here he is standing next to his piece, which I am not sure what it's titled, but there is a king who has ordered some food to be brought to him and off on the right some big bricks (gold? I'm not sure) anyway it's a storyboard etched on black. And it's very awesome! I am guessing we are going to be seeing much more of this guy's work in the future and it wouldn't surprise me to see some of my other grandchildren getting attention paid to their talent also, as it seems to be running rampant in this family! I love it! Way to be, Jack!!!!

For Crying out Loud!!!

I've got more valentines than you can shake a stick at for crying out loud! Anybody need a pencil? Grandkids, come on over and check out the candy jar! boy, do I feel loved!!!

Two-Lips

These tulips are from the McCarragher's ---about ready to burst out. . . and they're already very pretty!

Happy Valentines Day

I got a ton of valentines yesterday from the M-W-F kids and I took a picture of my favorite one. It was made by Callie. Isn't it sweet? Today the T-Th kids have their party and here we go again! They are so excited and wound up over valentines. Happy day to everyone - may it be another day of being in love with Jesus!

Snowville

Thinking we should re-name Coralville "Snowville". Here is looking out our back porch door. The snow is deep on the roof. Check out the top of our garbage can!
This is the post on our front porch.
A look at our front yard and out toward the street.
A look out the bathroom window
Come summer when we are hot and sweaty, this will all be a memory.

A Real Nice Evening

We met with our friends Larry and Darlene Marske tonight. It had been so long since we had a good visit. It was so good to hear about their kids, grandkids, and everything else we talked and laughed about! We have been friends for about 40 years. WOW! Darlene and I lived together for 3 years in this great little apartment in Waterloo and we reminisced some about that. Mostly we just enjoyed catching up and seeing one another face to face. It was good. I think they liked Don!
Here we are getting ready to leave the restaurant and say our goodbyes. The hostess took the picture for us. I can't believe how old we are, because we still look like we did in fashion school!!! We're still the hottest things around, aren't we?!
